- Go to Settings → Data → Family Sharing
- Tap Create Household (or Start Sharing)
- Enter the email addresses of family members to invite
- Choose their permission level: Viewer, Editor, or Admin

Conflict Resolution
If two people edit the same item simultaneously, you can choose which version to keep or merge changes.
Permission Levels

|---|---|---|---|---|
| Viewer | ✓ | — | — | — |

- Scroll to the Sharing section
- Toggle Share with Household on
- The item immediately syncs to all household members

Privacy Note: Only items you explicitly mark as "Shared with Household" are visible to others. Your personal items remain private unless you choose to share them.
💝 Legacy Wishes UPDATED
Plan what happens to your meaningful belongings. Reduce confusion and stress for the people you love.
What is Legacy Wishes? A thoughtful way to record who should receive your treasured items — your grandmother's ring, your vintage guitar, the family photo albums. It's not a legal document, it's a conversation starter.
Why It Matters
When someone passes, families face difficult decisions during an already stressful time. "Did Mom want me to have this?" "I think Dad said he wanted you to have the tools." Without clear intentions, these moments can create conflict and regret.
Legacy Wishes doesn't replace a will. It answers the smaller, personal questions that wills rarely cover: Who gets the mixing bowl you used every Sunday? The books that shaped your thinking? The tools you maintained for decades?
How It Works
Add Beneficiaries
Create a list of people who might receive your belongings — family members, friends, charities, or organizations.
Assign Items
Choose which items go to which people. Add notes about why an item is meaningful or special instructions.
Contingency Recipients NEW
Set a line of succession — if the primary recipient declines, specify who should receive the item next.
Share Your Wishes
When you're ready, share your Legacy Wishes with family through secure CloudKit collaboration with real-time sync.
Update Anytime
Life changes. Your wishes can too. Add, remove, or reassign items whenever you want.
Export as PDF
Generate a formatted PDF document to print, email, or store with important papers.
Important: Legacy Wishes are not legal instructions — they are personal intentions meant to reduce confusion and stress. For estate planning, please consult an attorney.
Receiving Shared Wishes
When someone shares their Legacy Wishes with you, here's what happens:
- You receive an iCloud share link via Messages, Mail, or another method
- Tap the link on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac
- Stuffolio opens (or you're prompted to download it from the App Store)
- Accept the share invitation
- View the shared wishes anytime in Legacy Wishes → Shared with Me
What Recipients See
View-Only Access
See all wishes and assignments clearly labeled as "View Only" — you cannot make changes to someone else's wishes.
All Recipients
See who else is designated to receive items, their relationships, and how many items each person is assigned.
Item Assignments
View each item, who it's designated to, contingency recipients if declined, fallback disposition (donate, sell, etc.), and any personal notes.
Real-Time Sync
When the owner updates their wishes, changes appear automatically on your device via CloudKit.
Offline Access NEW
View shared wishes even when offline. Changes sync automatically when you're back online.
Owner Attribution
See who shared the wishes with you and when they last made updates.
Family Input & Collaboration NEW
If the owner enables View & Input permission, you can indicate your preferences:
- "I'd like this" — Express interest in an item
- "No preference" — You're neutral
- "I don't need this" — Decline interest (helps identify items for the contingency recipient)
Your input helps the owner make informed decisions. They see all family preferences and can identify conflicts (when multiple people want the same item). Conflict detection highlights items where more than one family member has expressed interest — helping start conversations before they become disagreements. The owner always makes final decisions.
How Conflict Detection Works: When two or more family members express interest in the same item, Stuffolio flags it for the owner. They can see who's interested, review each person's notes, and make an informed decision — or use it as a starting point for a family conversation.
Assigning Legacy Wishes
You can assign items to beneficiaries in two ways:
- From Legacy Wishes hub — Browse all your items and assign recipients
- From Edit Item view — Scroll to the Legacy Wishes section while editing any item and assign directly

Frequently Asked Questions
Does Stuffolio support Family Sharing?
Yes! Purchase Stuffolio once and up to 6 family members can download it free through Apple's Family Sharing. Each person gets their own private inventory.
How do I create a household?
Go to Settings → Data → Family Sharing and tap Create Household. Enter the email addresses of family members you want to invite, choose their permission level (Viewer, Editor, or Admin), and send the invitation.
How do I share an item with my household?
Open any item, scroll to the Sharing section, and toggle Share with Household on. The item will instantly sync to all household members' devices.
What's the difference between Apple Family Sharing and Household Sharing?
Apple Family Sharing lets family members download the app for free — each person has their own private inventory. Household Sharing (built into Stuffolio) lets you create a shared pool of items that sync in real-time across all members' devices.
What happens if two people edit the same item at once?
Stuffolio detects conflicts and shows you both versions. You can choose to keep one version, the other, or merge the changes together. No data is lost.
Can I see who added or modified an item?
Yes! Every shared item shows owner attribution — you can see who originally shared it and who last modified it, including the device name and timestamp.
What happens if I'm offline?
You can still view and edit shared items while offline. Changes queue up automatically and sync when you're back online. If there's a conflict with someone else's changes, you'll be prompted to resolve it.
Will my family see my inventory?
Not by default. Each family member has their own private inventory. Sharing is always optional and explicit — through Item Sharing (specific items) or Legacy Wishes (your intentions).
How do I share my Legacy Wishes with family?
In Stuffolio, go to Legacy Wishes and tap "Share with Family." This creates a secure iCloud share that you control. You can stop sharing at any time.
What happens when I receive a Legacy Wishes share link?
Tap the iCloud link on your device. If you have Stuffolio installed, it opens automatically and prompts you to accept the share. If not, you'll be directed to download it first. Once accepted, you can view the shared wishes anytime in Legacy Wishes → Shared with Me.
Can I edit someone else's Legacy Wishes?
No. Shared Legacy Wishes are always view-only. You can see all the information, but only the owner can make changes. If they enable "View & Input" permission, you can indicate your preferences on items, but you cannot modify assignments.
Do I need Stuffolio installed to view shared wishes?
Yes. When you tap a share link, you'll be prompted to download Stuffolio from the App Store if you don't have it. The app is included with Apple Family Sharing — if the owner purchased it, you can download it free.
Is Legacy Wishes a legal document?
No. Legacy Wishes are not legal instructions — they are personal intentions meant to reduce confusion and stress. They help start conversations and reduce uncertainty. For estate planning, please consult an attorney.
What are contingency recipients?
Contingency recipients are your "plan B" — a line of succession for each item. If your primary recipient declines or can't accept an item, it automatically goes to the contingency recipient you specified. This ensures your wishes are honored even if circumstances change.
What happens when multiple family members want the same item?
Stuffolio's conflict detection highlights items where more than one person has expressed interest. As the owner, you see all preferences and can make an informed decision — or use it to start a family conversation. The owner always makes the final decision.
Can I export my Legacy Wishes?
Yes. You can generate a formatted PDF document showing all your beneficiaries, item assignments, contingency recipients, and notes. Print it, email it, or store it with other important papers.
Are subscriptions shared with family?
No. AI assistance is based on individual usage — each family member who wants it subscribes separately. The app itself (inventory, warranties, Legacy Wishes) is fully shared through Family Sharing. AI runs only when you ask, nothing is analyzed in the background.
What if I don't subscribe to AI assistance?
Stuffolio works great as a standalone app! AI assistance is available when you ask — it helps with smart categorization, value estimates, and maintenance tips. But the full app (inventory management, warranty tracking, Legacy Wishes) works completely without it.
Can I change my Legacy Wishes later?
Absolutely. Life changes, and your wishes can too. You can add, remove, or reassign items to different people at any time. Sharing updates automatically when you make changes.
